Ism Department In Collaboration With Nss And Ncc Units Of Gdc Billawar Organized A Free Medical Check-up Camp On 22/09/2021

Under the aegis of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”, ISM Department in collaboration with NSS and NCC units of GDC Billawar organized a free medical check-up camp for the students and teachers of the college. The camp was inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. Anita Jamwal in which she aware students about the benefits of Ayurvedic medicines and to follow a healthy life style and take a balanced diet, which is vital for strong immunity. Lecture was delivered by Dr. Sabitya Thakur and Dr. Bhanu Priya on the importance of immunity and female health issues. A team of doctors including Dr. Sabitya Thakur and Dr. Bhanu Priya from ISM department under the supervision of Dr. Mohan Singh, Director ISM (AYUSH) and DAO, Dr. Ajay Tikko, conducted free consultations and checkups in general health for the students and teachers. Free medicines, especially immunity enhancing were distributed among the students and teachers. The camp culminated with the vote of thanks by Principal to the staff of ISM Department. The camp was organized by Prof. Yash Paul, NSS PO, Assistant Prof. Raman Kumar NCC CT, Assistant Prof. Dr. Shiv Kumar Khajuria and Assistant Prof. Dr. Sunil Dutt under the overall supervision of Principal, Prof. Anita Jamwal.

A Lecture Of Understanding Gender In J&k

24/Mar/2017:A lecture on 'understanding gender in J&K' was organised in GDC billawar . the lecture was delivered by Prof. Rekha chowdhary . Principal of the college Suresh kumar sharma presided over the function and Prof amit sharma moderated the programme . Staff and students of the college attended the college . In this lecture Prof. Chowdhary talked about the distinction between sex and gender and explained the reasons for the inequality between man and women. She referred to the process by which masculinity and femininity are constructed. She also referred to the various process by which patriarchy is reproduced. The lecture was followed by a question- answer session in which a number of students participated. In the end , a moment was presented to Prof. chowdhary by principal of the college.

Awareness Campaign On Cashless Transations

Govt. Degree College Billawar organized one day Awareness Workshop under Vittiya Saksharata Abhiyaan (VISAKA) on �Cashless Transactions. Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, principal of the college presided over the function. The workshop was intended to educate the students and faculty members to adapt digital mode of transactions. A number of college students including Mohd. Bilal, Ms. Arti Devi, Mohd. Ashraf and Ms. Amrit Bharti expressed the merits and necessity of going digital payment system aftermath the demonetization. Dheeraj Goswami, Associate Executive J&K Bank, Billawar, who was the resource person, delivered a detailed lecture on various modes of electronic transfer of funds along with practical demonstrations. He focused on the various advantages of cashless transactions and also underlined the necessity of exercising precautions during such transactions. A large no. of students and faculty members attended the workshop and interacted with the resource persons to clear the apprehensions regarding digital mode of payment. In the end Prof. Sanjeev Gupta presented the vote of thanks.

Celebration Of National Voters Day

Govt. Degree College, Billawar in collaboration with District Election office, Kathua celebrated the National Voters� Day in the premises of Govt Degree College, Billawar. The celebration started with the assembly of students taking National Voters� Day pledge and distribution of EPIC card to the newly enrolled young voters. Later a symposium was organized on the topic Right to Vote: The base of democracy. Dr. R. S.Charak, SDM Billawar was the chief guest on the occasion and the function was presided over by Sh. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Principal of GDC Billawar. In all, 10 students from GDC Billawar, New Age Degree College, Phinter and GHSS, Billawar participated in it and threw light on the topic. Their performances were adjudged by the jury comprising Prof Joginder Kumar, Prof Rakesh Sharma and Lecturer Arjun Singh on the bases of Content, Presentation and Pronunciation. Ruhi Mankotia, BSc Part-III was adjudged as the best speaker while the 2nd and 3rd positions were secured by Arti and Deepika of Sem-II respectively. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest exhorted the eligible students to enroll themselves in the Electoral Roll and become a voter who is the real ruler of the democratic govt. He guided them as to how they can identify their Booth Level Officers from the website of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K and get themselves registered in the electoral roll. The Principal of the college advised the audience to exercise their supreme right to vote and elect the right representatives for good governance. In the last mementos were given to all the winners. The entire event was compeered and conducted by Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma.

Govt. Degree College Billawar Organized Celebration Of 142nd Birth Anniversary Of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel As � Rashtriya Ekta Diwas� (national Unity Day)

31/Oct/2017:A function was organised to celebrate 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day), in the College premises as a mark of tribute to the efforts of the country's First Home Minister to unite India. College students participated in the programme whole heartedly. To begin with, National Anthem, Unity Day pledge was administered after to all by the worthy Principal, Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma who was the Chief guest of the event. The students and the staff pledged to uphold unity and security of the nation. To mark the occasion ,essay writing competition, Talk on Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Poems and group song on Unity day were organised to help the students develop their confidence and speaking skills. The whole event was organized and compered by Prof. Rajni and Prof. Sindhu kotwal. In the end ,Prof Mohd. Maqeem threw light on the occasion and Prof. Suram Singh presented a vote of thanks.

Symposium On "road Safety�time For Action" On The Eve Of 27th Road Safety Week

On the eve of 27th Road Safety Week, a symposium on the topic �Road safety � time for action� was organized in Govt. Degree College, Billawar in collaboration with Sub Division Magistrate, Billawar and RTO, Kathua on 16-01-2015. A large number of students from different colleges and schools participated in the said symposium. Dr. RS Charak, SDM Billawar was the chief guest and Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Principal of GDC Billawar was the guest of honor on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Dr. RS Charak apprised the audience about various laws related to the road safety and traffic. He stress upon the students to not drive any vehicle without having proper driving licence and also urged participants to abide by traffic rules and cooperate with the administration to ensure smooth running of traffic. Prof. Suresh Kumar, Principal of the college exhorted upon the students to refrain themselves from violating the safety rules and also emphasized on the importance of road safety and need to disseminate information about the safety among the public and the motor vehicle users especially youth. Ms. Tavsum Kousar of Hr. Sec. School, Billawar won the first prize and Ms. Yasmine Ali of Govt. Degree College Billawar and Miss. Ruhi Mankotia of New Age Degree College, Billawar stood second and third respectively. The whole event was compeered by Prof. Satishwar Singh.

Awareness Programme In Form-6 In Election Process

Today on 14th March 2019, Govt. degree college, Billawar has organised an “Awareness programme on Form-6 in election process” in the college premises for BA/BSc./B.Com/BCA students. The function started with introductory speech by Tanvi Gupta (Lect. Sociology) about Form-6 and familiarizes students about its usage. Subsequently, Shakshi Vaid (Lect. Political Science) explained in detail about the electoral process in our democracy and briefly explained how to get enrolled with Form-6. Following this, our worthy vice-principal, Prof. Sanjeev Gupta interacted with students and also awakened young minds about voting rights and its proper and effective utilization to elect suitable representatives. Addressing all attendees, the convenor Prof. Rakesh Kumar and other SVEEP committee members Dr. Mohd. Maqeem, Mandeep Kour (Lect. Education), Dr. Sanjay Singh(Lect. Geography), Shailika Sharma(Lect. Govt. Degree College Billawar Bags 8 Medals Including Three Gold In Annual Inter-collegiate Athletic Sports Meet

Students of GDC Billawar bag 8 medals including 3 Gold,2 Silver & 3 bronze in the recently concluded Annual inter-collegiate Athletics Sports Meet held at university of Jammu. Ms. Akriti Sharma, Ms priya Sharma & Mohd Arjun brought Gold medals each in 1500m, 5000m & 800 m running events respectively. Whereas Ms. Veena Devi & ms. Akriti Sharma brought silver medals each in 1500m &100m running event respectively. The students who brought 3 bronze medals Ms. Veena devi, Mohd Arjun & Mr. Surjit kumar who took part in 1500m, 400 m running & high jump evens respectively. Principal of the college Prof. Jugal Kishore Sharma appreciated the students who brought laurels to the college by winning 8 medals including 3 Gold under the supervision & motivation of physical Director Mr. Ravi Kumar .

Awareness Program On Ill-effects Of Drug Abuse

Govt. Degree College in collaboration with District Police Kathua, under Civic Action Programme organized Awareness Program to sensitize students about ill effects of Drugs Addiction in the College premises. The proceedings started with welcome speech by Prof. Sanjeev Gupta and offering of bouquet to the Chief Guest, SDPO Billawar Shri. Ravinder Singh. On the occasion, Prof. Sanjeev Gupta(Vice-Principal) appreciated the initiative taken by Police Department to eliminate the rising menace of Drugs. Later, an awareness video on Drug Addiction was played by District Police Kathua to spread awareness about ill effects of Drugs Addiction. Students of the GDC Billawar also performed skit on the occasion to create awareness on the topic . A Performer from Kathua also performed dance to convey message on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest SDPO Billawar Shri. Ravinder Singh lauded the performance of students and advised students to stay away from Drug menace and sought support of the student community in eradicating this growing menace in the society. In the end, momentos were distributed among participants and vote of thanks was delivered. The programme was compeered by Prof. Sindhu Kotwal.

Electoral Literacy Club, GDC Billawar under “SVEEP Programme” today administered Pledge to vote for all students and staff members. All students and staff assembled in the courtyard of the College at 1.00 P.M to take Pledge for voting in forthcoming Paliamentary Election and all elections to be held in future. All the participants were administered Pledge by student Bhavana. Later, all promised to cast vote without any failure and also to encourage friends and relatives to cast their votes in all upcoming elections to strengthen our democracy.

Youth Parliment Debate On Evm And Vvpat Held In Gdc Billawar

Today on 26TH March 2019, Govt. degree college, Billawar Electoral Literacy Club organised “Youth Parliament Debate on topic EVM & VVPAT” in the Conference Hall of the College as a part of SVEEP Activities. The proceedings started with the welcome speech by Prof. Jigmet Stobdan. In the debate, Ms. Bhavna student of B.Sc 6th semester acted as speaker of the house while, Nitish Sharma B.A 4th semester and Rohan Chopra B.A 4th Semester acted as leader of ruling and opposition party respectively. Seven students from both parties have engaged actively as members and raised their valid points and counterpoints. Number of students and faculty from nearby Govt. High and Higher Schools also participated and witnessed the proceedings. Participants were also served refreshment during the event. On the occasion, Tehsildar, Dr. Vishal and Principal, GDC Billawar, Prof. Jugal Kishore Sharma were the chief guests. Later, the Chief guest Dr. Vishal addressed the participants and clarified that EVM cannot be hacked. Speaking on the occasion, CDPO Billawar, Pulkit Dutta advised students to watch Lok Sabha TV Channel and Rajya Sabha TV channel to understand the proceedings of Parliament. The Programme was coordinated under the supervision of Convenor Prof. Rakesh Kumar(Asstt. Prof Computer Application) and other team members including Shakshi Vaid (Lect.
